HONDARRIBIA HAS CONFIRMED!
Club founded in 1971 at a table in the Alameda restaurant. When it was founded, Hondarribia did not have its own field and played at the Stadium Gal. In 1972 it began to play in Ondartza, which was initially called El Peñon. Today it has a football school and 14 teams.
The name of the town, Hondarribia, in Basque, means ‘the sand ford’ (hondar: ‘sand’, ibi: ‘ford’) and, according to historians, could also be related to the configuration of the space where the population settled. Throughout history it has been written in various ways, such as Hundarribia, Ondarribia or Ondarrabia. The oldest written mention dates back to the 12th century, and appears for the first time in its current form in a document from the end of the 18th century.
Some of the most notable names that have played for Hondarribia include: Unai Emery, Joseba Llorente, David Billabona, Kote Pikabea, Mikel Llorente, Mariasun Quiñones, Xeber Alkain.
Good luck!
