SF Seals was founded in 1981 as a local recreational team that rose to competitive heights. 15 former Seals youth players have gone on to play for the national team. A staggering 43 players who have worn the Seals jersey have gone on to play professionally for teams around the world.
In 1987, the SF Seals, led by our Head Coach Shani Simpson, were named USA Today’s “U.S. Team of the Year.” That amateur team went on to beat MLS’s San Jose Clash on its way to the US Open Cup semifinals.
SF Seals supports the passions of our young players and understands that being on a team and working together to grow and learn is important to youth development. Our soccer program is aligned with the U.S. Soccer Development Academy guidelines set forth to help players learn and compete in the global world of soccer.
SF Seals Core Values are:
Player Development: Emphasizing skill development over winning.
Love of the Game: Developing a lifelong love of the game and having fun.
Respect: Cultivating sportsmanship and teamwork while respecting others and honoring the game.
Effort: Instilling a culture of hard work and competitive spirit.
Positivity: Providing a supportive environment, culture and community for players, coaches and parents.
