UCD Burladés is the new team confirmed for the 2024 Costa Girona Cup.
In 1923 a group of fans founded the “Athletic Burladés”, which disappeared in 1939, having participated in the National Category for one year. In 1950 a new Club called “La Unión” was created, chaired by Don Wenceslao Gorraiz.
Over the years, a group of friends made up of Mr. Wenceslao Gorraiz, Mr. José Macua, Mr. Julio Morales and Mr. Joaquín Najurrieta “Manchón”, decided to create a new team which they called “Union Club Deportivo Burladés”.
Among the titles won, the Second Regional Championship and the runner-up position in the Navarra Amateur Cup stand out. The team was promoted to the Third Division in the 1979-80 season.
Burladés can boast a unique record of remaining unbeaten at its Soto ground for four and a half seasons.
Among the most notable players to come through their ranks are Segundo Baigorri, the aforementioned Pepe Alzate who before becoming a coach played for Sevilla and Tudelano, Amiano, Pepe Macua, among many others.
